A Youth Developmental Triathlon Team is a team for young athletes who would like to participate in youth triathlons along with other sports like soccer, basketball and more. The Jr. HammerHead Triathlon team exists to foster a love for the sport of triathlon along with all the health benefits in a fun team environment.
All athletes need to be able to swim and ride a bike safely. We recommend athletes to be between the ages of 5-15 years old. USAT rules state that all athletes race at how old they will be by the end of the year on December 31st.
For Juniors ages 5-10: Swim is 100 meters, Bike is 3 miles, and the Run is 1/2 mile
For Seniors ages 11-15: Swim is 200 meters, Bike is 6 miles, and the run is 1 mile
Ironkids has three race distances. Junior (8 and under): 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike and 500 yard run. Intermediate (9 - 11 year olds): 150 yard swim, 4 mile bike and 1 mile run. Senior (12-15 year old): 300 yard swim, 8 mile bike and 2 mile run.
